Google Image Search Updates For Easier Phone-Based Browsing

If you’re sporting an iPhone or Android phone, Google Image Search has updated to provide you with a more streamlined browsing experience — no app download or installation necessary.

The old interface wasn’t awful, but it was more like using a simplified and squished down version of the regular browser version of Google Images. The new update optimises thumbnails — instead of irregular rectangles each thumbnail is a centre-cropped square for maximum thumbnails per page — enlarges images on a distraction free black background with auto-fading buttons, and supports a finger-friendlier interface that emphasises touch and swipe versus the tap-based interface of the old Google Images Search.

Watch the video above to see it in action or visit Google Images on your iPhone or Android phone to test it out.
