Need a solid floor covering for a kitchen or other high-traffic area but don’t have a high-priced flooring budget? One ingenious home hacker came up with a solution using bargain-priced door mats from IKEA.
At IKEA Hacker, Jari B details how he repurposed the $2.99 Borris door mat into an easy-to-clean floor mat. Building it didn’t involve much more than cutting off the rounded corners and gaffer-taping the pieces together. If the aesthetic appeals, it’s certainly a lot cheaper and a far bit more waterproof than a conventional floor rug.
