You are forgetting the entire part about leaving traces on your ISP's gateway and on the logs of the servers your browser is connecting to (i.e. sites you are visiting). For those in need of proper anonymity, EFF Tor (http://www.torproject.org) is the best I've come across. This guide is also a good start: http://www.eff.org/wp/blog-safely

Lol best thing to do is not look at shite ur not really supposed to at work... save it for home.
If your better half is an IT guru then you're probably screwed no matter what you do, if they're not then what are you worried about flushing stuff out that they're never going to find anyway?
Seriously if you have to go to this extent then you're probably looking at stuff that's somewhat questionable anyway.

Wouldn't it just be easier to user a sandbox?
http://lifehacker.com/258255/safely-test-new-software-with-sandboxie

This ensures there any and all changes to your system are deleted when the sandbox is closed.

I use normal firefox to setup bookmarks and settings etc., and then access firefox thru sandboxie, so that I have no worries about cookies, malicious sites, or bad downloads.
