Once you’ve installed and launched the application, you should see a new toolbar at the top of your screen, with a pre-defined set of menus, and your Quick Launch toolbar—but you can customise the menus and icons that appear on the toolbar in the settings. You can also change the theme, choosing between light and dark themes, or customising the colours however you would like, add some system stat meters, or move the new toolbar to the bottom of the screen instead. It’s not perfect—the notes feature is buggy—but it works fairly well as an application launcher.
Readers will probably note that the built-in Windows taskbar can do most of this already—you can add pretty much any folder to the taskbar—but WinExt essentially gives you a second taskbar to use as a launcher on the top or bottom of your screen. WinExt is a free download for Windows only.

Mine is about an inch wide and runs down the left side of the screen with small icons and labels enabled. The links bar and address bar (with the “GO” button disabled) are also vertically in the same bar.
