Work and other responsibilities can leave household chores off the must-do list. Rather than holding out until visitors or calamity demand too much work, try incorporating a daily “cleaning frenzy” before the situation gets dire.

A cleaning frenzy might last ten minutes or even up to an hour. But everyone participates, including the kids. We run around picking things up, putting things back, and generally tidying things up.

    We do this, but we have a timer that we usually set for about 5-10 mins. Its amazing how much you can get done in 5 mins! And it inspires the kidlet to do more, as he races to get it done before the timer alarm goes off.
