Facebook Keyboard Navigation Makes It Easier To Jump Around

Firefox with Greasemonkey: If you’re going to spend your time on Facebook, you can at least make it quicker to browse through and confirm that nothing earth-shattering has occurred. A simple Greasemonkey plug-in assigns Facebook sections to simple keyboard buttons.

If you’ve got Greasemonkey installed and apply the script, you’ll instantly be able to press “I” for your Facebook inbox, “H” for your home screen, “B” for a list of birthdays and so on. Actually, some of the shortcuts aren’t quite so apparent — “C” for photos? Luckily, the script is fairly easy to edit, so right-click the Greasemonkey icon, hit “Manage User Scripts”, select this Facebook plug-in, and hit “Edit” to change around where you go with each keystroke. It would be truly neat to get Google-style n/p or j/k shortcuts for moving up and down item lists, but for now, this is as ergonomic and quick-moving as Facebook can get for self-aware time-wasters.

Facebook keyboard navigation is a free download, works wherever Firefox with Greasemonkey does.
