Use PowerPoint As A Photo Editor In A Pinch

Need to apply a drop-shadow, colour tweak, or sharpening to a photo, but you’re high and dry without Photoshop? PowerPoint has a surprisingly robust range of photo effects you can use to quickly pull off a quick retouch.

The Digital Inspiration blog points us to David Anderson’s video tutorial on the photo effects tucked away in PowerPoint 2007 and the upcoming 2010. To get access to them, insert a blank slide into a presentation, add a picture into the slide, select the picture, then hit the Format menu to pull down a tray full of photo effects. It’s explained a bit more precisely in this video:
