The Basics Of White Balance
White balance is one of the settings which newbie photographers often ignore. However, if you’re regularly taking indoor shots, then adjusting the white balance can dramatically increase the quality of your photos.
Photography expert Helen Bradley runs down the role of white balance in making shots taken in artificial light look more natural, removing the otherwise strange colour casts that can appear, especially on white objects. As she points out, unlike other light-related automatic settings, white balance generally requires a bit of delving into camera minutiae (and some checking out your camera manual). White balance is a topic we’ve touched on before but it’s definitely one of those camera settings that’s worth taking time to master.
