Design Your Own Exercise Program Using Seven Key Moves

Some people have the luxury of a personal trainer to create their exercise routines for them. For the rest of us, web site Dumb Little Man has outlined seven key movements worth considering when designing a fitness program.

According to the post, any good exercise program should incorporate the following seven movements: squats, lunges, bends, twists, pushing, pulling, and walking/running.

The key step is deciding how much and which movements to implement. To get you started, Dumb Little Man suggests the following:

To give you an idea, that maximum you’d get out of this program would be to perform 3 groups of each exercise (sets), with each group containing between 8 and 15 repetitions. To keep it interesting, and also to maximize energy and fat loss, perform one group of each exercise back-to-back with no rest, take a 2 minute break, and then repeat two times.

I just bought P90X so hopefully it will incorporate all of these moves. I'm sure it will.

I'm glad I do have the luxury of a personal trainer.

This realy breaks down the exercize process beyond body parts.
There is more detail to be added for arm and calf development, but I found this very interesting.

@wakebordr: Yup. Pretty much all of these are in most P90X workouts. Obviously some workouts have more than others (e.g. chest and back has more pushing/pulling than plyos), but you'll definitely do all of these very frequently.

@wakebordr: P90X is an amazing program. Try and do the diet too - you can struggle by without it, but it's the muscle building diet that really makes the program. Pick up some protein shakes too.
