No Float Imminent For Qantas Frequent Flyers

There’s long been speculation that Qantas might float its Frequent Flyer program, which could potentially make it less rewarding for members. However, it doesn’t look like happening any time soon.

In its results announcements today, Qantas said that given the success of Frequent Flyer and its importance of a source of income (it gets paid by credit card providers who supply points to their users), it would “be retaining full ownership for the foreseeable future”. The big major changes of the past year — integration with Woolworths’ Everyday Rewards program and moving all credit card partners onto a “direct earn” model — have contributed to its popularity, even if they’ve caused a few glitches along the way.

Of course, when you’re competing with six million other people, getting decent free flights can still be a challenge. Check out our guide to getting the most from Qantas Frequent Flyer to maximise your returns.
