Unlinker Replaces Thumbnails With Full-Size Images
Firefox only (Win/Mac/Linux): Firefox extension Unlinker fixes those annoying web pages that show you thumbnails, forcing you to click through every single image to see the full-size version.
Once you’ve installed the extension, simply right-click on the image and choose the new Unlinker option to make Firefox load the full-size image inline on the page, or use the context menu on the page background to load all the images on the page—especially useful for galleries where you’d really like to see all of the images in a full-size view instead of repeatedly clicking through each one. We’ve mentioned this extension before, but since then it’s been simplified into a one-click operation. Unlinker is a free download, works wherever Firefox does.

@Dr. Vrein:
Yes but the icon and the unlinker was built by someone from a 4chan rival forum, though they forums are very similar.

@tonyx3:
And the answer, I've discovered, is no, sometimes, and it's not a big deal anymore.
In reverse order:
-Most (if not all) gallery style posts from the recent past include a sort of 'de-gallerying' link.
-Some, though not many, older posts have pictures linked to url's of actual jpg's, in which case Unlinker does it's job nicely. Example - http://lifehacker.com/5300475/
-On older pages that use the actual gallery format, and don't include a link to show all images, Unlinker doesn't do anything. However, you can usually just remove /gallery/ from the end of the url, and it will load all the images in full size, and with any accompanying text, which is, I assume, part of why this particular gallery layout is used: to include image specific text.
All in all, while it has its uses elsewhere, I think Unlinker is not too relevant for Gawker Media sites.

But does it work on LH and other Gawker pages? I gotta say the gallery format they use bugs me for some reason. I think because I can't select the images I want and open each in a new tab.

@Dr. Vrein: Yup! It's the awesome smiley. No doubt it was made for the chans, but there's a lot more use for it.

I think this was made with 4chan in mind. Although there's already a Greasemonkey script for that.
Even Unlinker's icon is an image usually seen on 4chan.
@lamintak: lol!! nice!

This works well in settings such as forums where people link multiple pictures in 1 page and you don't want to click through them all.

that icon for it is incredibly time-relevant.

@lamintak: DUDE! I'm at work! I nearly laughed out loud in a testing center! Gotta call this one NSFW! :)

Tried it on interfacelift.com, and it has this funky stack effect. Not sure if it's worth it, although it does eliminate maybe one mouse click.

The icon reminds me of the graphic at the bottom of this page.
