We launched Gmail Labs as a forum for delivering useful (and maybe not so useful) features that might not be quite ready for prime time. The idea was always that the most popular and viable Labs features would graduate and be made more readily available to all users…and that some of the less used, less viable ones would disappear forever.
I’m proud to announce that Tasks is in that first bucket – it’s been one of the most popular experimental Gmail features and it’s now the first graduate from Labs.
It’s great news for Tasks lovers in both Gmail and Google Calendar. And while we’re talking good news in GCal, Google also announced today the addition of Labs features to Calendar.
Currently the Google Calendar Labs features include everything from background image customisation and Google Docs attachments to a cool world clock widget and three other new Labs features. According to the Google Apps Blog, you should be able to access the Labs features in a new Labs tab in your Calendar settings today, but we aren’t yet seeing the updates yet in our calendars, so you might need to check back later today if you’re in a similar boat.
Whether your celebrating the graduation of Tasks or you’re excited about the Calendar Labs features, let’s hear what you think in the comments.
