Take Screenshots Of Your Android Phone

If you’ve ever wanted to share an image of what you are seeing on your Android phone’s screen, the Simple Help blog runs down the process of taking a screenshot from your Windows PC.

To take a screenshot, you’ll be required to enable USB Debugging under the settings, install the Android software development kit, and then connect to the phone with a debug tool so you can take a screenshot. The process sounds long and painful, but it’s actually just a few steps, and the Simple Help guide walks you through it easily—and the next time you want to share a screenshot with a friend, you’ll be able to do so.

Hit the link for the full walk-through, or check out how GetPDAScreen takes screenshots of your Windows Mobile device.

Couldn't you compile scrot to run on the device?

The guide linked doesn't tell you that you need to add 2 lines to your PATH system variable. FYI.

I created a video tut on how to install the SDK and JDK not too long ago. It's kinda rough but gets the job done.

What little app is running in that screenshot that puts temperature up in the status bar? That's pretty neat.

there is an app in the market do to it right on the phone itself, you need root access, but that isn't that hard to get

Additionally, you could use a Home replacement such as dxTop to snap a screenshot of your Android desktop...

for iPhone users just push the home button then the sleep button immediately after. a picture of your screen should be saved to the camera roll.
