DropRecord Uploads Your Files To Multiple Hosts

Bulk uploading a file you want to share to multiple file hosting services is quite a time saver. DropRecord is a simple way to upload your files to over a dozen hosts.

DropRecord will accept files up to 500MB in size and will upload to over a dozen file hosts including the big players like RapidShare, MegaUpload and EasyShare. Once you upload your file you’re given a unique URL for the file which shows the hosts it was successfully uploaded to and provides quick links to download it from them.

DropRecord sports more hosts than previously reviewed Gazup but you lose the ability to upload selectively to only the hosts you want. Both services offer the ability to transfer files from web sites and FTP sites. If you have a favourite bulk uploading service, share it in the comments below.

...Kinda surprised it doesn't list drop.io as one of it's "mirrors"...

@darkstar: Someone else just asked this question above- good answers up there.

@greyb1: When I wrote this same service up, the example I used was if you want to post a dozen different archives but you don't want to use the same host - if you use the same host the people who download from you will only be able to get maybe one or two before they're throttled by hosts like RapidShare or MegaUpload.

If you spread it out across as many hosts as possible, you maximize the availability of your files. Consider the DJ who wants to post all 6 of their new mixes, but doesn't have a ton of bandwidth to spare - they wouldn't want to tell all of their fans to get all six at one host.

@greyb1: I'd assume it's because different people have subscriptions to different services. If I pay for fast downloads on MegaUpload, and it's only hosted on Rapidshare, then that's a headache for me.

I've been using [www.sharebee.com] for a while now for this purpose.

An app such as this wouldn't benefit me whatsoever in any possible way. Please direct any further questions to my attorney.

Don't several of these already exist? sharebee.com for example?

@greyb1: Yeah, mirroring was the first thing that came to mind.

What's the point of uploading to a bunch of different hosts? Wasting bandwidth for fun? It's not like the files are different; pick the host with the least wait time and post that link.

anyone know a site where u can upload files more than 100mb for free?

  • atomicrabbit

what would be nice if you could choose which hosting servers you want to upload to rather than always uploading to ALL.

@atomicrabbit: Yeah. That makes sense. Thanks.

this is a very useful services, albeit it will probably be used mostly for illegal purposes.

@greyb1: lol... i would say it's mainly for illegal purposes, but there could also be some legitimate uses. If you have software you want to distribute and don't want to host it on your own servr, you can upload it to several at once. Often, files are deleted from a server if there is inactivity or possibly a violation of the terms, and it's always good to have one or more mirror links

Am I missing something? Why would you want to upload one file to multiple services?

This works. I just did a test and it worked on some servers. Some failed and some didn't: [www.droprecord.com]
