Just ducked over to the forum to check the latest progress on 720p on the Xbox and it looks like you can have bitrates as high as 9000 kb/s if you use divx instead of xvid. There's no reason your Xbox-compatible 720p files shouldn't look every bit as good as their x264 counterparts now. Wow. It also upscales to 720p beautifully. It won't play 720p encoded with x264, but it will do 720p xvid easily. It's simple to use MeGUI or psp4xvid or MediaCoder or visualhub to process your existing x264 stuff so it will play on the Xbox at full 720p resolution. I currently running XBMC Babylon from T3ch. Happy with it running on the 50" plasma at 720p (the original xbox doesn't do 1080p too well, it grinds to a slow halt). Love it!
