Truveo Video Search Launches Australian Site

Let’s face it, when you want to find an online video you probably head straight to YouTube, but for a more cross-site approach, Truveo isn’t a bad extra resource to have up your sleeve.
The AOL-owned search site claims to index more than 350 million videos, with an emphasis on professionally produced content. More tellingly, last week it launched an Australia-specific site which claims to use “localized ranking algorithms” (although obviously not localised spelling) to rank material from Australian producers higher. That produced fairly mixed results when I tested the site for TV shows produced in both US and Australian versions, but I guess it’s a start.

Seems a little pointless as most shows “aren’t available in your region”… Thanks Hulu.
