MouseZoom Enlarges Text And Shows Color Values
Windows only: MouseZoom is a tiny portable tool that functions both as a screen magnifier and a colour picker.
Whether you’ve been looking for a detailed colour picker or you’re just looking for a way to zoom in and track progress on a Windows machine, MouseZoom is a free and tiny solution. When MouseZoom is open anywhere your cursor goes you get both a magnified view and detailed colour information. You can turn off the colour picker if you don’t need it and zooming is incremental from 2x to 50x. Upon startup there is a small nag screen urging you to register the tool with the creator, as there is no fee it’s the web equivalent of postcardware. MouseZoom is freeware, Windows only.

I second with the above about ColorPic. I've been using it for years. Tried other tools, but ColorPic is simply the most complete one and you can fold a lot of the features you don't use. It's lightweight, simple, free. What more can you ask for? :)
It's got more features than the featured article here, that's for sure. It's still incredibly simple to use, so don't worry about that.

Another reason to promote the best screenshot program ever : FastStone Capture. Apart from its really, really effective capture functionality, it also sports a helpful color picker, which zooms in on the screen region below its crosshair.
So, no need for a new tool. Just another reason to delve into FSCapture. Grab the free portable version and you're good to go!

Colorzilla FTW!
I'm a web developer and have NEVER had to zoom something to get teh correct color value. This falls in the bloatware category for me no matter how light it is.

It's great but thinking I want to register it to remove the nag screen it says:
"If you like MouseZoom, please visit our homepage and get free software and your free registration key!"
However, after trawling through their site I see no way of registering or finding a key!
:(
@Tony Bullard:
ColorPic does both...you can see what colors are, grab and add them to a palette, and even type in your own values (RGB, Hue/Sat/Val, Hex, or choosing using a number of other sliders/pickers/etc.)...then save or load palettes...very nice for working on various projects where you have a predefined color set.

Looks nice, but I think Pixie is better. [www.nattyware.com]
It's extremely lightweight (even more so than Mousezoom,) and lets you copy color codes through ctrl+alt+c (for HTML), and ctrl+alt+x (for RGB).
For years, ColorPic's been my favorite.
Magnifier, grid, RGB - CMYK - Hex values, color mixer and many more.
I wish it would also comes as a portable app. Free download (Windows) at iconico.com

You can see the colour from RGB in Paint or anything that has a Colour chooser.
In Paint, click on Colors, Edit Colors, then click the Define Custom Colors >> button.
Enter the RGB numbers you want in Red, Green, and Blue, and the colour will show itself forth to you.
Use Calc to convert Hex to decimal to do the same with hex colour numbers.
It is a nice, small program that can use a second desktop, something you don't always find with magnifier programs.

@Color Calculator. It's dead simple and shows you the color as the background based on your input.
@Tony Bullard: RGB is most often done in hex anyway - MS Paint lets you put in RGB values and see a colour, even.

It's my favorite color picker.
There's so many apps out there that tell you what the color of something is. I'd love a tiny little application that lets you put in RGB, Hex etc codes and show you the color. That would be great.

@elmo13th: Cool! I've used FS Capture for screen capture for months and I didn't know it did that.
