IconRestorer Manages Your Desktop Icon Positions

6:00AM June 4, 2009 | The How-To Geek

Windows only: IconRestorer not only backs up and saves your desktop icon layout, it also lets you switch your icons to a space-saving list view.

The application works just like the similar DesktopOK utility we mentioned yesterday, but this one has a few more options, including the “List view Desktop” checkbox that changes your icons to a list instead of the standard view. You can accomplish the same thing with previously mentioned DesktopListView, but this utility combines both functions into one package and claims compatibility with Windows 7 and Vista.

IconRestorer is a free download for Windows only. It didn’t work under Windows 7 x64 in our testing, but the home page claims compatibility with both 32 and 64-bit varieties, so if it works for you let us know in the comments. Thanks, Scott!
