Convert Your Earbuds With Over-the-Ear Wraps

If you find yourself on the occasional jog wishing your earbuds fastened a little more securely to your ears, reader Yasmeen writes in with her clever solution for making your own quick-and-dirty ear-looping headphones.

Her idea:

Rather than spend the money on after-market iPod headphones that wrap around your ear, you can keep the default earbuds in place with a couple of twist-ties wrapped around the base of the earbud and then looped over your ear.

And while we can’t imagine this is a great long-term solution over simply buying the kind of earbuds you’re trying to mimic, it’s a clever idea and would probably do in a pinch.

it’s looks about as sloppy as 70s-style sticky-tape eyeglass-repair, and it’s probably super low on the comfort scale.

but seriously, if you can afford a $400-500 for an iPod, then you can afford $30-90 on a reasonable pair of aftermarket headphones.
