Set Default Printers Based On Network In Windows 7

4:30AM May 21, 2009 | Adam Pash

Windows 7 sports a great new feature that allows you to set default printers based on what network your computer is connected to, perfect for folks who carry laptops from network to network.

To take advantage of the new feature, simply head to the Devices and Printers dialog inside your Control Panel, click on one of your installed printers, and find the Manage default printers button on the blue bar inside the Explorer window. Clicking that button will open the dialog pictured here, from which you can set up your default printers for each network you connect to. It’s a small feature, but if you move around much with your laptop. it’s also a godsend. Thanks Kelly!

+1 Meghan, my ubuntu systems do this as well, no configuration is needed. In fact Ubuntu is vastly superior to your outdated bloated crapware!
