PatchMateXP Creates A Windows Update CD
Windows only: Updating your Windows install over a slow connection, or as part of multiple installations, can be a time-consuming pain. PatchMateXP bundles all current updates onto an easy to use deployment disk.
We’ve covered methods of slipstreaming and creating your own custom Windows update disks before, with tools like Windows Update Maker and nLite. PatchMateXP offers a radically simplified—albeit all or nothing—approach to updating your Windows installation. Updated monthly, PatchMateXP is meant to be burned onto a CD and run from within Windows. It applies every update release for Windows. If you need granular control over your updates to avoid known complications with your hardware, peripherals, or software and a particular Windows update you’ll definitely want to skip PatchMateXP and check out the tools above for more selective installation. PatchMateXP is a free tool, Windows only.

I've used Heise's iso builder for a number of years now - it's pretty wonderful (although it occasionally goes wrong).
Can build iso of updates for 2000/XP/Vista/S2003/S2008/Office2000/XP/2003/2007
*Very* useful if like me you end up helping multiple people on systems of many different flavours...

Yeah, this will last, NOT! M$ will shut this down pretty soon, just like they did with AutoPatcher. There's this pesky little TOS, dontcha know.
You're far better off using Offline Update and rolling your own ISO on demand. Build log is at [www.heise.de] overview is at [www.heise-security.co.uk]

This will be very helpful! I'm regularly installing Windows on people's computers (and my own, for testing purposes), and I think this is a good idea. I currently use nLite to slipstream, but I sometimes have issues booting the prepared system from USB (which I like to do).
I used to use CTUpdate to download updates once and deploy them on multiple machines. Definitely a time-saver. It worked with Windows AND Office, which I found nice. I wonder if this is any better.
Really a good idea and very help full thing. It seems very easy to make update iso's. Now anyone can apply the update with the help of update disk.
Another vote for Offline Update - brilliant timesaving software

I've gotten to the point of downloading all the standalone installers and running them all in unattended mode from a .cmd script. Along with the standalone installer for .NET 3.5 SP1, and standalone installers for any other MS apps I may want.
Unfortunately Microsoft doesn't make it particularly easy to know what ones were released when, so I run the update, then check AU to see what I missed, and add them to the queue for future use. They also have an audit tool that kind of helps to know what patches are out, but they're all assigned random numbers so you don't know how they work sequentially.
Hey this is like that one program that was really awesome but microsoft shut them down. Very useful!
I wonder what it is they figured out how to get around so that microsoft can't shut them down, or maybe they didn't and this won't last very long.
To the people saying build an ISO with the updates built in, that's great for new system installs, but if you have to update a ton of computers at once its often faster to have one of these discs/put it on a network drive.

@FredThompson: MS hater, please get lost. Thank you.

AVG tells me this zip file is full of trojan horses. Anyone knw if this is a false positive or what?
SadafHaeden
Confirmed. Kaspersky caught 1 trojan and deleted the file. It wasn't finished scanning though, so there could have been more.

@shibathedog: Look at my reply near the top of the page.

@paintbox: You obviously didn't follow the links, don't know about AutoPatcher r the acronym TOS. Fool.
FredThompson
Unfortunately AVG scan registers about 10 trojan droploaders on the download. Be careful.

@FredThompson: Um.... AutoPatcher wasn't shutdown for long... I've been using it for the past few years, sans the time until they went to direct MS downloads, like c't Offline Update.
You have to wait a couple of days past Patch Tuesday for them to get the updates online, but, when you rebuild a LOT of PC's - it's well worth it. Let AutoPatcher verify the downloads ONCE, then remove the RTI files for a much faster load.

I've used Heise c't Offline Update for several years now. Nice thing is it also does all versions of MS Office updates, all of the different versions of Windows, and can put them on a CD or DVD as required.
ShamusTermite
well, during unzipping my avg anti-virus says there are 10 Trojan horses Dropper.Agent.MOI in this pack...
what do you think is going on here?
Yossi Rosenboim
only patchs and hotfixs English made, I seem.
In future ...

Has anyone been able to burn this to disk? I've tried 3 CD, 2 Drives and 2 different burning programs and none have worked.
