70 Wallpapers To Dress Up Your Dual Monitors

I finally got around to setting up dual monitors on my system and now have a question. The monitors are different sizes, one supports 1440x900 and the other goes up to 1680x1050. I don't want to have to decrease the resolution on my larger monitor, though. So can I take a dual monitor wallpaper and still have it show correctly across both desktops, or is that not possible? For the record, I'm on Windows 7.

@deanbmmv: Aye, 2x1680x1050 makes wallpapers at the exact size difficult to find :|

I've noticed similarly sized 16:9 wallpapers tend to rescale quite well, thankfully.

@wewillchange: I tend to hang around slashnet and esper, but primarily gaming (well, as on-topic as IRC can get >_>) chans.

For Windows, Ultramon will take a dual wallpaper that doesn't fit odd sized screens and crop it properly.

My problems always been My monitors been 16:10 which seems to be an odd size. So I tend to make my own when the mood hits me, just set Apophysis away to knock out a new wallpaper. Or I just stick with having mirror images on both screen's.
Actually apart from my current method of stitching them together in Photoshop first does anyone know how to have separate wallpapers for each screen in Vista/Win7 like the Mac does?

F'Awesome, I was literally just looking for some new ones. My right was, err, last month's Firefox wallpaper, and the left is a horribly generic space one I try to cover up with IRC windows. Yaaaaaaay :3

@abhiroop: you could find some panorama where the skyline/horizon/whatever is lower on one side than the other, then crop out appropriate parts to preserve scale between them

My problem with dual monitor wallpapers is that I have one 19" screen that is connected off my 15.4" laptop. Therefore, having a panoramic vista is useless as it gets cut up in the middle and the two screens show weird shapes! Therefore, I am looking for sites which offer two wallpapers that somehow fit together, but are appropriate for different sized monitors.

In fact since I use Ubuntu I can only use ONE wallpaper anyway. So, I usually have to use GIMP to cut two images and paste them together. Oh well, I'm not one to gaze endlessly at my desktop anyway.

@Phoshi: Aye it is handy there isn't too much difference between 16:9 n 16:10 as there is with 4:3.

Can anyone suggest a monitor that would be fitting for dual monitor setups, specifically in regards to ones that have very small edges so that monitor-to-monitor is nearly seamless? I'd hate to have 2 inches of black splitting up my screens.

@abhiroop: Ubuntu handles dual monitor wallpapers quite nicely, at least on my system (which, admittedly, runs Ubuntu Studio -- but that part shouldn't be changed).

I have a 22" widescreen and a 17" 4:3 to its right, and to complicate the matter worse, the 17" sits about four inches lower on my desk than the main 22". Telling Ubuntu about the positioning was a snap, and now Ubuntu treats my desktop area as starting from the top-left corner of the widescreen to the bottom-right of the 17. Dual-screen wallpapers just have the lower-left portion cut off (the part "under" the widescreen) and the upper-right portion (the part "above" the 17"). As long as I use wallpapers that don't focus on those areas, it looks great spanned across them.

*The caveat here is that I'm using the Nvidia drivers for Linux, and that MAY give me extra abilities. I've yet to try it with the built-in tools.

@deanbmmv: I feel your pain. I have three monitors where the middle monitor is larger than the three flanking monitors. I tweak almost all my wallpaper by hand in Photoshop to fit 3200x864 as my optimum size. A tiny bit gets shaved off the bottom on each of the side monitors, but it still looks nice. One day I'll upgrade to three matching monitors ;-)

I haven't been able to make a wallpaper stretch across my dual screens yet. All it does is use a single copy of the wallpaper on each display. I'm using Windows XP with the regular nVidia drivers in Dualview configuration.

The background you guys are using as a picture for the article is actually a triple monitor background. It's amazing none the less though.

I found it around 6 months ago when I was looking dual/triple monitor wallpapers.

Also if anyone wants a dual monitor 1920*1200 of "Adolescent Eyes" I think I also have a triple 1920*1200 of if as well.

Well, that would fix a problem I noticed with several of those wallpapers. Specifically, that a lot of them have a very specific focal point that's smack in the middle of the image, like the CGI kid with the little butterfly on his nose. Splitting that sort of image right down the center would pretty much destroy the effect, but chopping off both sides and leaving the center intact wouldn't be so bad.

There are others that clearly had a skilled photographer behind them, like the one that has classic cars on the right and a formation of flying birds on the left. Each half would then have a distinct feel to it, but they'd also still fit together in the middle.
