Worio Enhances Popular Search Engines With Extra Features

Worio is a search engine enhancement tool that combines keyword searches through popular search engines with a personalised suggestion engine, bookmarking and social networking.

Worio combines the ability to search popular search engines like Google, Live, and Yahoo with some handy features to enhance your searching. Whenever you search, results from the principle search engine are displayed in a pane on the left hand side and results from the Worio discovery engine are displayed on the right hand side. The discovery pane uses the keywords from your principle search and your search history to suggest related items that may be of interest to you. As seen in the screenshot above, Worio suggested ShellDwellers.com, a relatively obscure discussion forum about shell dwelling African Cichlids. Worio managed to suggest a site to me, after just a few searches, that I happened to already be a member of but if I wasn’t I would have enjoyed the recommendation immensely. The more you use Worio the more personalised it becomes, although if you’re searching from something you don’t want Worio to make a part of your search “personality” you can turn the personalisation feature off temporarily.

In addition to search personalization, Worio also includes a tag-based bookmarking system and accompanying helper bookmarklet that can be easily synched with your Delicious account. There is also a simple link sharing system for quickly sending links to your friends via their Worio username or email address.

A login is required for personalisation and bookmarking, but you can play with the interface and suggestion engine without a login. If you take Worio for a test drive, sound off in the comments below.

After trying worio ... I still prefer cuil, but I have a full set lodged in my Camino and Firefox search boxes. Now, if I could only get Safari4 to handle something analagous to Inquisitor I'd be a happy camper

I prefer Google on it's own but for a search engine that tries to combine the power of multiple search engines, [www.dogpile.com] is also pretty good

While talking about search engines that offer multifaceted utilities, I would always recommend http://aafter.com/ AAfter search box is nothing but Pandora’s magic box. Whether you are looking for cash back, medical help, answers to any real-life question or homework, local weather forecast, local allergy alerts, background of a person, study tools, domain research tool, and geo location of IP address or trying to shorten large URLs; with AAfter, you can do simply everything.
