Polaris Brings Google Analytics To Your Desktop
Windows/Mac/Linux (with Adobe AIR): Polaris is a free Adobe AIR application that brings Google Analytics (Google’s statistics tracking tool for web publishers) to your desktop with an attractive look and feel.
If you don’t have your own web site, this application (and Google Analytics in general) is useless to you. If you do have a web site, chances are you’re a little bit of a Google Analytics junkie. Rather than keeping a tab or window open dedicated to Analytics, Polaris Desktop Reporting pulls Analytics out of your browser and puts it into an attractive widget-style look at your web site’s visitor and traffic status. The application is fast, integrates many of the reports you likely look at regularly, and overall works like a charm.
Polaris is a free download for Windows, Mac, and Linux, requires Adobe AIR. If you’re planning to use the app for more than one web site, Polaris costs $US15/year.

Google Analytics isn't real-time enough to need desktop display.

@VayaConQueso: no script and better privacy in firefox does it
Damn, I wish you could use analytics with .wordpress.com sites, I'm such a stats junkie for some things
I believe the same company had developed an application titled "Analytics Reporting Suite," which they replaced with Polaris and I assume a couple of other apps which are to be released. To be honest, I'm slightly disappointed. Analytics Reporting Suite was pretty cool, and I looked forward to updates. It looks to me like they just divided it into four apps, which seems kinda silly.
Looks like a great app but Greasemonkey with Social Media Metrics plugin adds social network profiles to your Analytics. Polaris should add that!

Install and select "Allow Scripts Globally" or else almost every website won't display properly. I believe with the default settings it already blocks Analytics, but if not you can can just block it manually by visiting any website that uses Analytics, right clicking on the NoScript icon and selecting "Mark google-analytics.com as Untrusted" and it will block it for good on all sites. Works awesome.

I'd like to know how to block it, too.

@ askj113: If you have your own site/server, switch to wordpress.org. Allows you to run the same blog, same template if you wish, same features you know already, but more customisation with google stats as an option.

Crippleware isn't free. And even if you pay for it, Polaris is actually less powerful and less informative than the free tool (Google Analytics Website) that it replaces.

@Shady:
My bad, the correct URL is: [adblockplus.org]
@VayaConQueso:
The easiest/best way to block Google Analytics...or any tracker for that matters...is to install the "EasyPrivacy" filter for Ads Block Plus. You can get it from the Ads Block Plus website [adblockplus.org] look under Miscellaneous and it's called EasyPrivacy.
Install the filter and all tracking scripts are Blizzocked (ga, counter, sitemeter, etc.)!
@kklassy:
FYI: Google doesn't use "urchin.js" anymore, the new analytics uses "ga.js" so until this script it updated it will pretty much be useless for the newer sites.
