Skype For IPhone Brings Reliable VoIP To Your Pocket

Skype dropped their official iPhone client in the App Store earlier today, and it delivers reliable VoIP calling over a Wi-Fi connection. But it’s also reportedly working over 3G on the beta 3.0 firmware.

That last bit is according to 9 to 5 Mac, which found that calling with Skype on a phone running a developer’s beta of the upcoming 3.0 firmware works just fine—Skype “treats the 3G line like any other internet connection.”

How will Skype for iPhones change your calling habits? Are you holding out for a BlackBerry release in May? Any iPod touch owners try a call with a dual mic/headphone set? Tell us your take in the comments. Skype for iPhone [via Gizmodo]
