what about iPrimus, i found this is the best Inet Wireless broadband provider, giving 6GB for $3995 and extra GB for 595 or extra 10 for 3995, and it just shapes you at the end of the 6GB and its better connection and customer service than 3 and telstra put together.

The more I look into wireless in Australia, the more I think there is not one company that can provide a good service. The big companies all have terrible cost saving customer service from India and have over-subscribed networks meaning terrible speeds especially at peak times. Wireless is obviously a fantastic concept but until things change I think its best to stick to home-based internet connections.

Does anyone have an opinion on Netspace's ADSL2+10 Anytime plan which is 10GB which can be used anytime for $39.95/mth. Plus $100 for the wireless modem. This seems pretty good compared to the others with double the GB for the same price ... is there a catch?

Dodo have an appalling reputation when it comes to customer service -- my personal advice would be to steer well clear.

No technical reason -- it's just a way for vendors to maximise their profits by making occasional users buy extra credit each time. When prepaid first appeared on phones, it was also similarly limited. Competition eventually introduces other options: 3 does now have a plan with a 12-month expiry, for instance.

Could someone please advise why is there a maximum of 30 days with prepaid mobile internets?

I have a prepaid phone to which the expiry periods are well off into the future. I fail to see the difference.

Thanks

+1 for Virgin. I've got their prepaid product and atm it's $15 for 1GB which is as low as the cheapest mentioned above. Their contract mobile BB also seems like one of the better deals with it offering shaping. The only downside is that VirginBB is rate-limited at 512kbps down, but that isn't too bad for the extra value. :)

Isn't it worth putting Virgin Mobile in here? I know they don't offer cards, but I can take their Sim out and use it in my 3 (Merlin) PCI card modem. Although they are reselling Optus bandwidth, they offer much better rates and are marketing iPhone's big time with realistic amounts of data (not the drip feed that Telstra seems to think is a good enough hook to snag the unsuspecting punter with.

Surprised there is no mention of Virgin. Quite alot of negative comments on Whirlpool, but I have had no trouble on their wireless prepaid broadband. Prices are the same per gig as Optus and they use the Optus network but the minimum monthly cost is half what Optus offers and they charge by the byte. I just use it for occasional browsing when i am out and about and it suits me great.
