Mutt Delivers Email from the Command Line

If you pine for your long-gone computer lab days of using, well, Pine, or just interested in a quick-access, command-line email client, Mutt might be right up your alley. The program puts a slightly refined text interface on your email, and reading and writing your mail moves pretty much at the speed of thought. There’s only one configuration file to tweak, and it works with POP and IMAP. Here’s a starter guide for setting up Gmail over IMAP with Mutt, and for the adventurous, terminal-happy OS X folks, an OS X primer. Mutt is a free download for Linux/Unix systems.
