AtomKeep Syncs Your Social Network Profiles
11:00PM Tamar Weinberg | Seems like every other week you’re signing up for another social networking site and filling out another user profile with the same old information; webapp AtomKeep is out to save you the the time and hassle. AtomKeep manages and syncs your user information across 23 social media applications (including Facebook, Digg, Flickr, Twitter, LinkedIn, Blogger, YouTube, Yelp, and Ning, just to name a few). AtomKeep sets your user profile information to default settings you specify. This means you you don’t have to navigate to your old Digg profile to see what to put in your Twitter biography. AtomKeep doesn’t store your password on-site—they say they only use it to synchronise your data. If you want to keep your social networking profiles consistent across sites, AtomKeep makes that process simple. AtomKeep [via ReadWriteWeb] More »

Weys Creates Mobile Phone Wallpaper from a Screenshot
10:30PM Lifehacker US Edition | Windows only: Free software Weys converts Whatever You See on screen into mobile phone wallpaper by taking a screenshot sized for your phone screen. Weys doesn’t have the finesse and fine tweaking that an actual graphics editor like Photoshop or GIMP would have—you simply slide the loupe like rectangle (or model of your phone if you want to download a skin) over the image on your screen and snap the image to save on your phone. Weys is a free download for Windows only, though development on the project does seem to have ceased. Weys: WhatEver You See Mobile Wallpaper Creator [via gHacks] More »

HearWho Converts Text to MP3
10:00PM Lifehacker US Edition | Free webapp Hearwho converts text you enter into an MP3 audio file you can download. Select from a male or female voice, English or Spanish text conversion, and choose the quality of the resulting file at Hearwho. Similar to previously covered VozMe, the results are no substitute for a professional actor hired to read an audio book, but if you’ve got text you’d like to listen to while commuting or working out the results aren’t bad at all. Resnooze Sends and Snoozes Email Reminders
9:00PM Lifehacker US Edition | Webapp Resnooze sends timed email reminders to yourself and friends and gives you the option to “hit the snooze button” on the reminder to get it again later. Select either a text message or a URL for Resnooze to email you and the frequency—daily, weekly or monthly. Delete or repeat the reminder using a link in the incoming email—good for “read it later” bookmarks, tasks due at a later date, or email messages you want to follow up on in a week. 11:40AM Angus Kidman | One of the core promises Google has made about its new Street View service is that individual identities are protected, with faces blurred and compromising details removed. If you’re unconvinced, here’s some evidence of sorts: a shot near Kings Cross station in Sydney featuring a completely blurred man with no shirt on. His conversational partner isn’t quite so anonymous (though not easily identified), but topless sunbathers clearly have nothing to fear. [Thanks Kaan!]

11:33AM Angus Kidman | Existing iPhone owners are now queuing to update their software, but some prospective iPhone buyers are unhappy they haven’t got the device yet. Mitchell Bingemann at AustralianIT reports that several Optus customers are unhappy they were persuaded to sign up for a plan even though phones weren’t delivered, and now face getting a monthly bill even though there’s no phone in sight. Other carriers also have problems (most notably Vodafone and its no-end-in-sight plan confusion). How was your iPhone buying experience? Would it put you off buying one again? 11:20AM Angus Kidman | As millions of Australians waste time at work checking out everywhere they’ve lived on the newly launched Australia implementation of Google Maps’ Street View, community rating site StreetAdvisor has wasted no time in adding the feature to its service. It’s not immediately obvious, but if you locate a neighbourhood that StreetAdvisor has already rated and click on ‘Browse Map’, you’ll get access to the Street View rendition alongside user comments on that area’s pluses or minuses. 8:10AM Angus Kidman | Regular tech bargain hunters will already be aware of comparison shopping site staticICE, and might have even installed an extension for their browser for easy access. For bulkier items where you don’t want to pay a fortune in postage, here’s a neat trick: narrow your search by state by adding the filter state:qld (or whatever state you want) to restrict the results. (As with most comparison sites, enter as much information as possible: the default sort is by price, and typing a single world like “iPod” will get you lots of cheapo accessories.) [staticICE]
