I use Fring on my Nokia N95-2 when i'm on wifi.

What I would REALLY like is something much less flashy than all the current ones. I don't want emoticons or photos or chat logs...I just want to send a message.

Having said that, the question is floored. There isn't a "best". I too like the Live Messenger Folders but don't like the ads and such. Don't use the webcam stuff but that will become a real issue, I've got Trillian looking good and working sweet so it wins today. Pidgin just has real file transfer problems (too slow) on my windows box.

None of the multi-clients work for me as none of them really handles webcams well.

So I generally stick with the actual MSN client; I like the way it handles webcams, very handy.

I have tried other clients, Miranda, Trillian, Pidgin, but this new one just takes the cake, so easy to configure and so customizable, plus awesome support for Twitter, Facebook, GMail, etc, and still expanding and growing so maybe we'll see support for GCal, Flickr and other commonly used sites. Outstanding client!
