at present, Nero, AnyDVD, and MagicDVDRipper are the most fault/error/scratch tolerant tools for copying a DVD to your computer (although far from perfect). unfortunately, none of them supports an AutoPlay ripping option, although AnyDVD manages to rip discs with just a couple of clicks.

from there, countless tools are around that can shrink/convert/etc those VOB files to your preferred format; the best from my testing has been CloneDVD or DVDFab, using AVC(MP4) format -- not as popular as (Divx/Xvid), because of the long encode times, but the quality:filesize ratio is unbeatable.

"On another note, what about adding and option to rip to xvid?"

There is one - Handbrake. No point reinventing the wheel.

For it's intended purpose, this application is fine. Nice job.

Caddie

Hi, When this program starts analysing the dvd I want to rip, it only reaches 16% each time and the following error occurs:

"DVD shrink encountered an error and cannot continue
failed to read file " d:/"
data error (cyclic redundancy check)"

This could be due to encryption on the DVD you are trying to rip.
Using AnyDVD in conjunction with the ripper should get around this.

On another note, what about adding and option to rip to xvid?
