hi there, we had a media centre in our lounge room hooked up to the plasma amp & foxtel which stopped working. It also had an ethernet connection to the downstairs xbox360 for media extender. We have a laptop with vista ultimate / windows media center s/ware which we want to use instead located in the home office. Is there a way we can set it all up being in different rooms so that the laptop can stay in the home office but still be used as the lounge room media centre & connect to the downstairs xbox360. Is there a way it can be done via our wireless network or a combination of wireless / ethernet? Thanks

To be perfectly honest, I'd recommend a Playstation 3 over this, since it can play DivX files and with the PlayTV addon it's now a DVR too. Win-win, and you don't have to have your PC turned on all the time.

Hey mate,
I was wondering whether you could help me out? I want to utilise the Media Center Extender but, do not have an XBOX and am not planning to buy one. I live in Australia and am wondering what the best alternative is for my laptop?
Thanks a lot
